There standing in the hallway, was my grandma.
I blink twice and I think it’s only three times I’m not entirely sure, because I couldn’t believe my eyes. I wanted to run into her arms and tell her how much I missed her. I heard a noise behind me., turning around to see what it was and there was nothing. Confuse I turn back around, and my grandma was gone. Walking a few steps forward to where she was standing I heard her voice, ” Stop! Stop!” She said in the most painful voices I ever hear. She sounded like she was in so much pain like she was being burnt by fire or somebody was hurting her. I stopped in my tracks looked around one more time and took another step forward.
” Grandma” I whispered ” Are you there?” Stepping forward quietly as boards creaked from under my feet.
“STOP! DON’T GO ANY FURTHER!” she said again louder.
“But….but…I want to see you.” I said as tears began to roll down my face.
“Destory the treeeeee…” She said as her voice began to faint. ” You must!!” I took another step forward. ” What do you mean?” I yelled back. I took another step forward.
“STOP!!! IT WILL GET YOU!!” my grandma said this time faintly.
Confused, I took a step forward….
Jolting awake I opened my eyes, I was back in my bed and my door was open and the Sun was shining through the window again. Sweat was dripping from my forehead. I had no idea how I got there.
Hearing my mom and dad downstairs I ran downstairs and tried to tell them what happened.
I ran into the kitchen where I heard mom and dad. No one was there. Searching the kitchen and living room, I stopped at the tree.
My grandma’s picture was not there anymore. But…me. There I was smiling in my red dress that dad had bought me a few years ago. “Mom!” I said. “Why am I on the tree?” I heard nothing. I panicked, I searched the whole house for my parents, calling yheir names. Walking into the kitchen, it had changed. Everything looked old, cobwebs were forming and the food on the table was moldy.
I heard a car pull up in the driveway Looking out the window, I saw my mom and dad dressed in black. My mom was crying and dad was glaring at the house. ” I knew….I knew it would take care.” My dad said throwing a rock at the house. “It was not for protection, it only wanted our daughter.” My dad said one last time before they drove off.
” Don’t worry sweetie, they always come back. You are not the only one.” My grandma said behind me.
